    Why This Recipe Works?

    • Simple & Easy: This strawberry banana milkshake is a simple and easy recipe.
    • Handful of Ingredients: You only need a few ingredients to make this milkshake.
    • Rich & Creamy: This milkshake is rich and creamy both in taste and texture.
    • Overripe Bananas: Use slightly overripe bananas for this shake for best flavor.

    Ingredients

Pro Tip # 1 - Room Temperature Ingredients
Always use room temperature ingredients (unless otherwise specified) for baking. Ingredients such as butter, eggs and other dairy ingredients like milk, sour cream, yogurt form an emulsion by trapping air inside the batter. The trapped air expands in the oven resulting in perfect baked treats.

ingredients for the strawberry banana milkshake.
    • Bananas: use fresh bananas for this milkshake.
    • Strawberries: use fresh strawberries.
    • Vanilla Ice Cream: use full fat vanilla ice cream.
    • Milk: use whole milk for this milkshake.

    Pro Tip # 2 - Digital Scale
Use a digital scale to measure all-purpose flour and other dry ingredients. To measure with cup, fluff up the all-purpose flour container using a spoon, then scoop out the flour with spoon into the measuring cup. Never scoop out of the container. It may result in more flour than required resulting in dense bakes.

    Instructions

These are basic process shots for this recipe. For detailed instructions refer to the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

    Substitutions & Variations

    • Overripe Bananas: Use slightly overripe bananas for this shake for best flavor.
    • Strawberry Banana Cheesecake Milkshake: Add ¼ cup of cream cheese to make it a cream cheese treat.
    • Plant-Based Milk: Use any plant based milk for this milkshake in equal ratio to the whole milk such as soy milk, coconut milk, rice milk or almond milk.
    • Oat Milk: Substitute whole milk with oat milk or any other non-dairy milk of your choice.
    • Strawberry Ice Cream: Use strawberry ice cream in place for vanilla ice cream in the shake.
    • Chia Seeds or Flax Seeds: Add 1 - 2 teaspoon of chia seeds or flax seeds to convert it into a healthy strawberry banana milkshake recipe.
    • Sweetener of Your Choice: To add a little sweetness add 1 - 2 teaspoon of sweetener of your choice such as castor sugar or honey. I like natural sweetness of the fruits in this shake and do not add any sweetener.
    • Scoop of Protein Powder: Add a scoop of protein powder of your choice such as vanilla protein powder or chocolate protein powder to make a healthier version of this strawberry shake.

    Expert Tips

Fresh or Frozen Fruit: You may use fresh or frozen strawberries or fresh or frozen bananas for this shake. The fresh fruit will give you a thin consistency for the milkshake while the frozen fruit will give you a creamy texture and thicker shake. The choice is yours. Not that frozen fruits will make the milkshake extra cold and creamy.

Thick or Thin Milkshake: Add ½ cup of regular milk for a thicker shake or add ¾ cup  of milk in the strawberry banana milk shake for a thinner consistency.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I double or triple this recipe?

Yes you can easily double or trip the quantity of this milkshake depending on the size of your blender jar. Go to the recipe card to get the perfect ratio and measurements of ingredients.

    How To Store

    • It's best to consume this homemade strawberry banana milkshake right away as they do not store well but if need be you may store this milkshake in the fridge for up to a day. Stir the shake before serving.
    • Keep in mind that the milkshakes get hard in freezer or convert into a thick milk when placed in fridge.
